At SWIIS we are committed to making care count, both for children young people and their carers.
Although SWIIS is one of Scotland's largest foster care providers, we are still a family run agency. Our carers and staff are part of a close knit family in which everyone works together with the same intention of providing the very best quality of care for our children and young people.
Our carers continue to cite the high level of support they receive - 24 hours a day 7 days a week – as a primary reason for their working with SWIIS. We have close to 100 % retention rates amongst our carers with very very few electing to move to other providers, which we like to think of as another indicator of how satisfied they are with SWIIS.
We know that our carers especially value:
Good, relevant training
A close relationship with their link supervising social worker and all of the multi-disciplinary support team
Responsive staff who are there when you need them
Education staff who can help get children and young people into school and to keep them there
Therapeutic staff who can help carers understand and work with children's behaviour.
Our local offices will be happy to chat to you informally about any aspect of joining SWIIS.They can also put you in touch with some of our carers so that you can - if you wish - hear first hand what it’s like to be a SWIIS Foster Carer.
Here is what some of our carers have said:
“If you are going through a tough situation the support really kicks in”
“I am so glad that we work with SWIIS rather than any other agency as the support, training, and contact is second to none.”
”The level of commitment we have received has been more than I expected – all the staff who work with us are professional, caring and dedicated”
“I did not expect a lot when I first started but I was extremely pleased when [a SWIIS worker] swung into action and worked with the school to ensure our placement got the best service from the school.”
