Supervising Social Workers are all qualified and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. All carers are allocated a Supervising Social Worker. They have a key role in developing our carers to ensure that they provide the highest quality of care and outcomes for the young people in placement.
Our Supervising Social Workers:
- Offer advice, support and guidance to all members of the household as required
- Supervise carers on a monthly basis. This includes reviewing the carer's development and training needs
- Regularly check and sign the carer's diary / written records and recording / reporting of any significant events
- Address issues of safe caring for all family members
- Advocate on behalf of carers in order to support them in providing a service which meets the needs of children in their care
- Liaise with all key parties and ensure carers have all necessary information regarding the young person they are caring for and coordinate placement agreement meetings
- In partnership with the child's social worker, offer advice and assistance regarding the appropriate ways to manage behaviours and monitor how National Foster Carer Standards are being met
- Prepare carers for attendance at key meetings e.g. fostering panel, Children's Hearings, reviews and attend (where necessary) all relevant planning meetings, reviews, case conferences, strategy meetings
- Undertake assessments, including inlcuding coordinating a multi-disciplinary report for the carer's annual review and for updating the carer's Form F assessment, in light of the review descisions / other significant changes by reviewing report of addendum
- Undertakes periodic Health and Safety checks
- Carry out unannounced visits at least once a year
- Carry out Child Specific Risk Assessments
- Contribute to the assessment and training of prospective carers
